Latest News from the CIT Extended Campus
CIT Disability Support Service
25 May, 2020
CIT Disability Support Service (DSS) is continuing to work remotely to support post-entry and pre- entry students. DSS supports are available remotely, however, they may differ to how they are usually delivered on campus - see www.mycit.ie/dss-supports-online1
- Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) has advised that the scheme is operating consistent with the timeline that is already published in the DARE Booklets and on the Access College website. We would encourage applicants, parents/guardians and guidance counsellors to monitor the Access College website relating to Covid-19 updates - https://accesscollege.ie/hear/alerts-hear/2020/05/13/covid-19-update/
It is important that any applicants to CIT who may require the support of an academic personal assistant, sign language interpreter, access to campus/buildings, or mobility training in order to access college in the new academic year should e-mail dss@cit.ie for an early needs assessment meeting in July/August. These meetings will take place remotely for Summer 2020. If applicants contact the DSS later than these dates we cannot guarantee that supports will be in place for the start of the semester.
We would also encourage applicants to improve their IT skills (such as typing) over the summer where possible, as we anticipate some teaching, learning and assessment is likely to take place online in semester 1 of the coming academic year.
